TOP2A Antibody (SWT3D1) Summary
Synthetic peptide, corresponding to amino acids 854-1447 of Human Topoisomerase II alpha.
Nuclear
This is specific to alpha form of DNA topoisomerase II. It stains the nuclei of immunoreactive cells. This is useful in the staining of small cell lung cancer, non-small cell lung carcinoma and breast carcinoma.

Background
Topoisomerase II alpha plays important roles in synthesis and transcription of DNA as well as chromosomal segregation during mitosis. It is reported to be a sensitive and specific marker of late S, G2 & M phases in transformed and developmentally regulated normal cells. Note that Ki67 / M1B1 is also present in G1 phase. Topoisomerase II alpha is also implicated in drug resistance of tumor cells.
