Background

PLDN (Pallidin) may play a role in intracellular vesicle trafficking. It interacts with Syntaxin 13 which mediates intracellular membrane fusion. Several alternatively spliced transcript variants of this gene have been described, but the full-length nature of some of these variants has not been determined. This protein involved in the development of lysosome-related organelles, such as melanosomes and platelet-dense granules. PLDN has been shown to interact with BLOC1S1, STX12, Dysbindin, CNO, BLOC1S2, MUTED and SNAPAP. Recombinant human PLDN protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
