Background
Mouse CD200 R3, also known as CD200RLb, is a 38-40 kDa type I transmembrane glycoprotein member of a small family of CD200R-related molecules. Family members named CD200R1-5 represent activating counterparts to CD200R that is a widely expressed inhibitory receptor for the ligand CD200. Consistent with other family members, CD200 R3 is a Ig-superfamily member with a V-type and C2-type Ig-like domain. But unlike other family members, it presents as a disulfide-linked homodimer that is highly spliced, poorly glycosylated, and shows an unusual modification of its C2-type Ig-like domain. It is expressed by mast cells, basophils, and CD49+ regulatory dendritic cells. It does not bind CD200. When experimentally activated, it induces IL-4 production and degranulation. There is no direct human or rat counterpart to mouse CD200 R3.
